wine country

We are so fortunate to be living in wine country. I think it's something
we often take for granted.
I remember way back when…when Brian was looking for a job while we were engaged...and there was a possibility we could be living in Sonoma County.
I imagined riding our bikes (even though I don't own one) down dirt roads to
wineries every weekend. Sipping on wine and enjoying the vineyards…I mean it couldn't get much better than that right?!

For the first 6 months of living here we definitely visited quite a few wineries. I eventually got a job working in the wine industry and boy did I learn a lot about wine. Since than its been fun going to wineries and actually being able to have a conversation with the guy/gal behind the counter. But it has lost its glory a bit...and like I said...I think we take it for granted

Yesterday when Brian came home for work there was 30 minutes left before one of the wineries by our house closed. We decided, "what the heck lets go wine tasting!" we came home being signed up for the wine club at landmark winery.
It was so fun and spontaneous. I think that these are the memories we will remember when  we think about our time living here !

hope everyone has a wonderful day!

new cookbook
...
I saw this cookbook a month or two ago at a cycling store near us. For valentines day brian remembered and bought it for me! sweet…i know :)

so with LESS than one week until the napa valley marathon, I decided I would try to eat really healthy... eating foods that'll fuel me for the long run...(instead of my usual spoonful of frosting every day and icecream)

So last night we planned to try this bison recipe but of course our local market didn't have bison so we tried hanger steak instead. I have to say… It was pretty good! Brian barbecued it...it's been really nice out the last couple days. I made a salad to put it on with a homemade dressing. The dressing was delicious!!

For the dressing I didn't measure anything...just a splash of this and a splash of that. Here are the ingredients if you’re interested...
Olive oil (decent amount)
white vinegar (a splash)
Spoonful of Dijon mustard (I happen to have Sierra Nevada honey spice mustard but I'm sure Dijon would be just as good)
Spoonful of agave nectar (or honey)
Dash of salt and pepper
And whisk away!

We enjoyed this delicious meal as we watched the Oscars. I really just like looking at all of the dresses and hairstyles…Did you have any favorites?

Hope you all have a wonderful week!

valentines day

when I think of valentines day I always think about my elementary days…
we would always have frosted sugar cookies and cut out hearts would be everywhere.
...
you knew going into the school day that school work would be put on the back burner
and you would most likely come home with a stomach ache from eating too much candy
...
the day would consist of bringing in your paper mailbox to place on the edge of your desk and of course you would lug in your bag full of valentines for your classmates…
...
the biggest decision being what kind of candy you were going to attach to your cards and whether or not you should give two pieces of candy to your crush
...
then of course at the end of the day you go through your mailbox reading every valentine card and dissecting every word

I hope you all have a happy day filled hearts, flowers and maybe way too much candy!

Where does the wedding dress come from?
I seem to be at a time in life where weddings are happening
ALL. THE. TIME.
But I love it! What better way to spend a weekend than to share in the joy of another couple making a big step in life
{And lets be honest…it’s pretty fun to have an excuse to put on some heels, do your hair in maybe a different style than your “everyday hair-do”
 And lets not forget…an excuse to buy a cute new dress}
I wanted to feature my wedding dress card set this week  (with it being the week of loooooove and all) and also wanted to share a special picture
...
This is my grandma and grandpa…my dad’s parents. My grandpa passed away before I was born and my grandma passed away when I was 2.

Isn’t this picture just beautiful….from her dress, his tux, and their genuine happy smiles…
...
And here that is where the wedding dress image comes from

I hope you all have a wonderful and loving week!
