A Baby Girl Shower
Last Saturday my sister and I put on a baby shower for our other sister and her little baby girl on the way.
We couldn't have asked for a prettier day... The weather was perfect!
I thought I would share some pictures of the details...
.....
My sister had the brilliant idea of renting umbrellas ( from Bella Umbrella in Seattle) which were a total hit!
.....
My mom and aunt made the Pink Cake from the cookbook Vintage Cakes by Julie Richardson. It was sooo delicious!!
We had Lavender Cupcakes from the Yummy Mummy cookbook as an
alternative dessert choice.. People couldn't get enough of them!
.....
We had two "activities" rather than games...
One was to make a headband for the baby.
We had four large mason jars each filled with different size headbands.
People then chose a flower to glue on to the headband and would
put their "Made with love by: " tag on it.
By the end of the shower the mason jars were lined with beautiful headbands for the baby.. A perfect nursery decoration!
.....
We also had a frame set up with " Wishes for the baby" which will also go in the nursery. People wrote sweet wishes and attached them to the board.
.....
We handed out raspberry pink macarons as a thank you treat from Le Panier in Seattle.
Hope everyone is having a great week!

A little bit of my Roots
Yesterday I flew up to Washington
My sister and I are putting on a baby shower for our other sister tomorrow!
{I'll be sure to post about all things baby shower on Monday!}
I always love looking around my parents house when I haven't been home in a while and seeing the small adjustments and added touches.

I've realized there are so many cool pieces that have helped form my own style.
It's funny how much your home growing up plays a role in the person
you are and the way you are with your own home.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!

The end of an era
Over the last 6 weeks..
I have been taking Brandi to obedience training
She is a wonderful, sweet dog but as I have mentioned before,
the minute she sees something more exciting then say...me or Brian..she is GONE.
.....
So after one of her usual "escapes," we decided enough is enough
I have to say...she does seem more obedient and pays more attention to me which I appreciate.
I have plenty of exercises to practice with her that will hopefully pay off in the long run.
.....
But there were a couple things that came up about Brandi that I didn't expect to hear
~apparently Brandi needed to learn to have faith and trust in me~
~apparently Brandi doesn't get distracted in her surroundings but rather gets worried, therefore making it difficult to learn~
.....
I don't know if I necessarily believe these things..maybe I am denial..
Nonetheless it was a good experience!
I hope everyone is having a great week!

Linen
Today I am working with a couple new
linen pieces for the aprons I just received.
If you couldn't tell already
I kind of go "goo-goo-eyed" for all things linen
I love that it is so natural yet looks so warm and inviting.
It has just the right amount of class to it that isn't too overbearing
I am pretty sure my dream house would be covered in linen
Linen bedding, curtains, couch and chair covers...
.....
Here are few of my favorite pinterest photos...
Right now we have a sad looking chair in our garage...
It has been added a few times to the dumpster list but I think it has potential.
Over the next couple months I plan on making a big attempt to reupholster it.
This linen armchair is my inspiration!

Hope everyone has a great week!!

Friday Ramblings
There are days where I feel like I have so many creative thoughts and ideas
that I could fill a million journals.
.....
Other days... If I was handed one blank sheet of paper it would stay blank.
Days like those, I try to re-focus and get inspired.
But I find that sometimes getting inspired can be a challenge..
Especially depending on my current mind set.
.....
There are times that my search for inspiration only leads to never feeling good enough
I'll see a successful company and instead of being inspired..
I will think "gosh, how will I ever be where they are at."
.....
Setting high standards for yourself are important...
but I think everyone takes different paths to reach that standard or goal.
.....
Consistent, small progress is just as great (if not better) as reaching your goal in one day..
It's all about the journey right?
I have learned that as soon as the wave of doubt starts to approach.. To stop everything and focus on one
thing positive that you have accomplished..
I think seeing and recognizing your own progress can often be all the inspiration you need to keep going.
.....
Have a great weekend everyone!

Happy Wednesday!
I love how a simple bouquet of flowers makes such a huge difference in your home.
Growing up it seemed like we always had fresh flowers around...
I try to keep that up in my home and it sure does create a beautiful feel.
If you are in Wednesday funk go buy (or pick your own) fresh flowers!
It will definitely pick you up!

Blueberry Jam
Saturday was a blueberry jam day...
and boy is it delicious!
.....

My mother in law and I spent the majority of the day getting our
fruit together and making jam.
.....
I didn't realize how long of a process it is...
{or how many cups of sugar goes into a batch!}

We went to the cutest fruit stand that was tucked back in a neighborhood and surrounded by orchards and vineyards.
.....
After 8 jars I had such a feeling of accomplishment after they were all done.
I am dying to come up with some recipes to try so that I can incorporate my homemade blueberry jam:)
For now...frozen waffles will have to do!
.....
Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Happy Friday!
Last night Brian and I had the chance to meet up with a few of my friends from high school.
It had been a few years since we had all seen each other
and it was is so fun to catch up and reminisce.
.....
It's funny talking about the stories we actually remember from "back in the day." Stories that in the moment we probably never thought we would remember.
.....
I wonder what memories from today I will remember vividly 10 years from now.
Andy said it best on the finale of the office..."I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them." Maybe that would take the fun out of it...who knows.
.....
This weekend is supposed to be a HOT one...
Someday I would love to go to the Francis Ford Coppola pool.
It looks so delightful! The fact that it's at the winery is pretty awesome too.
.....
But it's weekends like these where I really wish I was still a kid and could jump through sprinklers and have water balloon fights all day long! Now prepare yourself for the cutest picture....
...
...
...
...
I can't get enough of this! The photo is from last Summer and is courtesy of my sister :)
....
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Twinkie Cupcakes

Like I have said before, I am not some extravagant chef...though sometimes I like to believe I am.
I typically think of something I want to make and turn to my best friend to ask him for a recipe.
His name is Google.
My searches usually include "the best (fill in the blank)" or "the easiest (fill in the blank)"
.....
When I think of something that's a little unusual (basically anything other than chocolate chip cookies or some other cookie type) I tend to lean towards recipes that aren't too complex. That's because when I want to make say...Twinkie cupcakes, I don't want to waste time having to go to the store to get a million extra ingredients that I will probably only use once.
.....
I don't know why I feel the need to get instant gratification.
I tend to be like that with not only cooking but other house projects or ideas for Lindsay P Designs.
I am still working on enjoying the process and not being discouraged
when things don't happen instantaneously like I always hope for.
.....
Back to the twinkies.
Maybe it's the fact that authentic hostess twinkies no longer exist (you always want what you can't have) but yesterday I felt like having one.
I tend to think that making your own of anything is "healthier" so it worked out that I couldn't go buy one.
.....
Contradicting what I said earlier...Brian had to go to the store anyways so I had him pick up the 2 extra items I needed...yellow cake mix and marshmallow cream..
And as we watched the new Die Hard movie..I whipped them up!
They turned out better than expected..
Fluffy and moist and gooey inside..
I found this recipe to use but left out the hot salt water and didn't bother with the frosting...it was sweet enough with the filling.
{Stay tuned for more "In the kitchen with..me!" posts.}
I hope you all are having a great week!!

Alameda Antique Fair
Yesterday Brian and I went to the Alameda Antique Fair!
Overwhelming? Totally! But worth it? Yes yes yes!
I had heard a lot about the infamous Alameda Antique Fair...I also knew there would be some awesome vintage French fabric that I absolutely had to check out.
.....
Brian, graciously said he would come with me {I don't think he ever thought he would be waking up early on a Sunday to go to an Antique Fair} and I think he enjoyed it too! Maybe not quite as much as me.
.....
I purchased this beautiful old French twin mattress cover. I'll be able to make quite a few aprons with this gorgeous fabric so be on the look out!
I hope you all had a great weekend!
