Love Poems
One of my best friends sent this book to me for my birthday and it is my new favorite.
I thought since today is Good Friday I would share a couple of the poems. I hope you all have a wonderful Easter!

A Banjo?!

Yes, it is true....last week we bought a banjo...

Over the past year or two Brian and I have started to really enjoy bluegrass music
.....
So a couple weeks ago we started doing research and looking into banjos for fun
.....
Neither of us are that musical...
(I mean...I play the piano for fun and Brian played the saxophone for 3 years but it's not like we both play the guitar and would be able to easily transition to another string instrument)
....
but thanks to YOUTUBE it's been great!
The best thing about it....
It's been something different.
Something to switch up our daily routine.
Something else to do then just watch TV.
Something new to learn.
I hope everyone is having a lovely week!!

The Macaron
This weekend was filled with sweets…delicious and decadent sweets.
I had been wanting to make the short drive to Yountville to visit Bouchon Bakery. I was dying to try their famous macarons. We headed there Saturday morning and knew it would be well worth it when we saw the long line out the door.
I chose 3 flavors to get a little variety…Birthday cake, espresso and Raspberry.
And WOW!  It totally and completely exceeded my expectations! They were chewy and gooey and just insanely good. I feel a little embarrassed that we have lived here for almost 3 years and just now came to the bakery.
 .....
We will most definitely be going back for more. And if you are ever in the area it is a must stop.
....
In other news….I just received 5 more beautiful vintage French fabrics from France!
I am loving this old toile de jouy design piece...
Stay tuned for more aprons that will bring back to life these beautiful pieces...

Have a wonderful Easter week friends!

Time to Celebrate!

Brian and I have already been blessed with two precious nephews to spoil...and soon we will have a NIECE!

.....

We just found out the exciting news on Wednesday and I am already looking forward to making all things pink and bright and with ruffles

.....

I had to get some pink flowers to celebrate!

Today just happens to be my birthday so it's been a week of celebration around here
Isn't this the sweetest Happy Birthday sign?   It's designed by Wendy Addison. My parents bought it for me when they came to visit earlier this month.
.....
Brian helped start my day in the right fashion by making me my favorite- extra buttery, extra sugary, cinnamon and sugar toast...
I think it should be a good day! Hope everyone has a fun weekend!

Spring is here!

When I was younger I would always equate this season to Spring break, my Birthday and Easter.
…..
But I have come to realize it is a time of renewal.
…..
I think about people referring to “Spring Cleaning” which I am a big advocate of.
…..
And the chance to replenish our vegetable garden that is so overgrown and dead.
…..
But most importantly the renewal that comes with Easter…Jesus’ resurrection and the chance to dig a little deeper in my faith.
…..
I think this time of year is wonderful and as I sit here on this rainy first day of Spring I look forward to these next 3 months to see where they will lead.
Happy Spring everyone!!

Santa Barbara

I returned last night from a 4 day “Sister-cation” in Santa Barbara.
We had a long to-do list that mostly consisted of eating at our favorite spots and shopping until we literally dropped.
Of course one of the best ones seeing Kimberly Williams and Brad Paisley and their adorable little family. If you know my sisters or I, then you know that we can pretty much recite both Father of the Bride part 1 and part 2. So to be together and see Kimberly Williams was SO exciting. We spent almost our whole dinner that night trying to figure out ways to say hello but in the end decided we would just leave them alone.
We were able to squeeze just about everything in and it was such a special time with my two older sisters. So many memories I will never forget!

Happy Monday all!!

Imperfections

The other day I was working on an apron.
I took my French vintage fabric that I wanted to use for this particular one and, like most of the old French fabric, started to notice the imperfections and left over thread from the seam that was once intact.
.....
Naturally, I started to clean it up and pull the thread out little by little
Then my mind started to wonder...I started to think about the person who once took the time to sew this same piece and where this piece of fabric has been over the last 100 years.
.....
Personally, I like to see the small tears, stains and imperfections.
It adds to the character of the piece....and I think we can say that about a lot of things in life.
.....
Here is a sneak peek of the French Pocket aprons that will be coming soon. Simple, classic, modern and partially vintage :)

Mimosa Tax Day

Yesterday we did our taxes (bum bum buuuum). We weren't looking too forward to it (although I made the mistake of saying that I think it's sometimes fun...apparently I spoke too soon) We decided we would come home after church and just get it over with to check it off the list.
...

I'm a big believer of trying to make not-so enjoyable things a little more enjoyable. Usually I  light a candle or play some good tunes but I didn't think that would do the trick this time.

So yesterday we had our first annual  Mimosa Tax Day.

Bubbles and raspberries...so delicious!
I have to say...though we complained for a while to each other afterward...it did make the process a little more enjoyable.

...

On a side note.. Last night the sunset was beautiful and I thought I would share to inspire you all for the week.

Have a wonderful week!

Getting Organized

For a while I had piles…piling high in every corner of our main room. Lindsay P Designs seemed to be taking over our whole house. Now we have just one main room besides our bedroom so as you can imagine…quarters started to feel pretty tight. I had fabric in one corner, important papers and receipts in another corner and cards envelopes and everything else on top of that.

{I can’t believe I am showing this but this was on a day where things got a little out of hand…pre-desk days}

For Christmas Brian said he would buy me a desk (great idea on his part! I hadn’t even thought of that!) We searched and searched for the perfect desk and I finally found one at the cutest store in San Jose called Magpie.
{I love the details on the top and sides}
For my cards I wanted to get an old toolbox. I found this one at Carolina & Co. in Santa Rosa…another fun shop! I didn’t know how I felt about the barn house red at first but I actually really like it now!
2 months later I am realizing how helpful it has been to have one place to store everything…well almost everything (I still have a few piles). I start to go crazy when I am not somewhat organized.

Have a lovely and organized weekend!
