1st Birthday Celebration!
It's hard to believe today is Sam's first birthday!
The year has gone by quick as I knew it would.
Of course I keep replaying through my head what I was doing exactly a year ago today as I waited and waited for his arrival.
I was truly convinced he was never going to come!
And now here we are...celebrating this kids first birthday.
.....
We celebrated with family and friends last weekend and I thought I would share some photos.
The rough theme I went for was deer and buffalo plaid red.
I wanted to do a "52 weeks of Sam" wall and was so pleased with these little polaroid pictures I ordered from Square Snaps
They ship from London!
But I was able to order them and receive them in 3 days for a really good price.
.....
Being that it is December which means most likely rain, we decided on a cozy menu of soups, mini grilled cheese and a coco bar.
I also wanted to keep it simple and not spend hours cooking extravagant food.
Not to mention Sam is a huge fan of soups!
We had Carrot & Fennel, Broccoli & Cheese, and Tomato Basil.
For sandwiches...grilled cheddar cheese and Apple, Fig and Beechers Cheese
.....
For dessert I made a healthy-ish cake for Sam to dive into that I found on this website
I frosted it with cool whip which was his favorite part!
For the rest of us...Applesauce Cake cupcakes with frosting.
I found the cute buffalo plaid cupcake holders on etsy!
.....
For favors, deer shaped sugar cookies!
I found the deer head cookie cutter from etsy as well.
.....
I think he had a pretty fun time!
Happy Birthday my sweet, happy boy!

Family gatherings and cooking yummy dishes...oh what a fun time of year this is!
.....
I thought this would be the perfect time of year to do an apron giveaway.
This is one of my original aprons and I love it so much because of the simplicity...
Neutral linen paired with antique white vintage French fabric.
The perfect apron for any season.

Hello November!
Where has the time gone!?
I actually have found myself forgetting that we have already gone through
all of Summer and most of Fall and that it still isn't May.
But I am not complaining...
It is the best time of the year!
Family, coziness, boots and sweaters, delicious food...doesn't get much better!
.....
I'm jumping right back in to blogging with my ultimate "fall meal"...it's my favorite!
It's the perfect ratio of pie crust to creaminess and will not
disappoint the urge for a comfort meal!
.....
You can of course put in any veggies you want and cater it to what you like.
(I suggest making the dough ahead of time, cutting up the veggies and maybe even cooking/dicing the chicken up. I did this a day or two before and it was great!)
The particular pie crust in the recipe makes a top and bottom so every time I have made the pie, I also make this delicious apple pie crisp.
Man oh man it's so good and super easy.
I didn't get an "after" photo because it was gobbled up too quick!
Pie overload.
.....
I hope everyone had a wonderful end to October and a fun Halloween with lots of candy!

Learning to Adapt
I hope everyone is having a great week!
We spent labor day up at the hood canal..soaking up the last little bit of Summer...
I can't wait to share more pictures of the most beautiful beach bungalow...
My parents have just about finished renovating it and it's a real life fixer upper!
I'll share plenty more in a later post.
It's been a productive week of getting orders out from the Seattle Gift Show and also watching sweet little Sam move and move and stand and speed crawl.
I swear I turn my head for 2 seconds and next thing I know he is at the other side of the room!!
.....
I continue to figure out how to manage being a mom and keeping my business moving forward. People make it look so easy!
Every day is a new challenge.
But I think the best way to get through each day is focus on that
particular moment and try not to stress on what the next day will hold.
.....
Today, going to Starbucks and getting work done, while my foot moves the stroller back and forth to keep Sam asleep is working...
but tomorrow may be entirely different.
I am realizing that routines are over rated and learning to be okay with that new phenomenon.
Adapt and go with flow!
.....
I hope you all have a great week and enjoy the day whatever that may mean for you!

Good morning!
I hope you all had a great weekend.
For us, it was a weekend spent with family after the passing of Brian's grandma.
I've learned that moments like these are never easy...
No matter how you look at it.
But it helps bring back perspective and enables you to enjoy the
small things in life that bring joy.
Be it a simple flower in a garden, a cup of coffee in the early morning,
or holding a sleepy baby.
Take those moments and store them in your pocket.
It's the small things that can help get you through tough times.

Mother- Daughter Apron Set
I hope everyone is having a great week!

Believe it or not... Mother's Day is just a few short weeks away.
I will now always remember Mother's Day as the very beginning of Lindsay P Designs...
I wanted to make my mom an apron with my new sewing machine
but couldn't find the style pattern I was envisioning.
So I decided to just try it on my own and fell in love with the way it turned out.
Simple with feminine flair.
I then proceeded to make 3 more for my sisters and I!
I'll be offering a few fun Mother's Day specials coming up...
the first being the Mother-Daughter Apron Set.
 Customize it too!
In the comment box at checkout, specify if you would like a white or natural apron along with your desired French fabric.
Order before May 5th to receive in time.
Stay tuned for more Mother's Day treats!

Non-Profit Receiver
I hope everyone had a great weekend!

We have wrapped up giving donations to Strong Against Cancer
and are on to the next non profit.
With Memorial Day soon approaching I thought it would be great to give to an organization for our veterans.
April-June, 10% of the profits of all sales will go toward
"Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America's veterans for all their sacrifices. We transport our heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials. Top priority is given to the senior veterans--World War II survivors, along with those other veterans who may be terminally ill."
My sister will be volunteering as a nurse and going on their upcoming trip in May and I am so excited to hear first hand about the experience.
What better time then around Memorial Day weekend to give to this organization.
Have a great Monday!

Vintage Baseball
I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend.
In celebration for opening day for baseball season,
I thought I would introduce the latest card for all of the baseball lovers out there.
Our family grew up watching baseball, particularly the Mariners.
Of course, the 1995 playoffs being the most vivid baseball memories for
baseball fans around here...
getting to skip school to go to the playoff game,
decked out in navy and teal and my dad and sister even
landing a small quote in the Seattle Times...
Spring training in arizona...
waiting after the games to get autographs and snapping pictures of all the players as they drove on by...
This card is simple but there are so many great memories behind it!
Have a wonderful week!

Happy Spring!

We are almost a week into Spring already!

I love this time of year.
It used to be because of my birthday when I was young...
but now i love it for so many more reasons,
The change in scenery and in the air.
Flowers are budding and lawns are beginning to be worked on.
I love it.

The fresh smell of grass and lawn mowers being heard.

It was a wonderful low key weekend celebrating my birthday.

Nothing beats spending time with my little family and being spoiled with delicious food!
Lately I can't stop thinking about how much has changed in just this past year.
Exactly a year ago, we were going along each day, fairly content with where we were at in life but at the same time, craving some change.
I had absolutely no idea what God had in store for us.
It's been a year full of many blessings and a lot of change.
I am so thankful for it all.
I sometimes think that I don't think this next year can beat last year...but with this sweet little guy changing everyday...I'm sure it will.
Hope you all have a great week!

Cherry Blossoms
It's hard to believe spring is right around the corner.
I was so excited when I started to see the little green buds on our hydrangeas...
not to mention the cherry blossom tree that I (somehow!)
didn't realize we had until recently!
So with that I thought I would introduce the latest spring card...

Cherry Blossoms

Available at lindsaypdesigns.com!
Stay tuned for more cards and check out our other spring cards available year round!
Have a great rest of the week!

Happy Monday!
I hope everyone had a good weekend and Valentine's Day!
.....
I gained one of the greatest gifts the day Sam was born.
Having waited an extra four days past my due date, (which seemed like eternity!)
I was so ready to meet him.
Those first days after were a bit of a blur.
Between feeding and changing diapers and getting to know this new little being...
it was pretty indescribable.
.....

I found out two days later that my grandpa unexpectedly passed away just hours before sweet Sam was born.
To process it all was hard.
I was torn between two extreme emotions.
The joy and amazement of having just given birth to Sam,
and a deep sadness and confusion as to why my grandpa had passed...
.....
But through it all there is a sense of beauty.
knowing that that day won't be filled with just sadness but celebration as well
and I believe God intended it to be that way.
I know there is a greater purpose and God works in wonderful and mysterious ways.

.....

This weekend we celebrated my grandpa and all that he is to us...
the baseball loving, card game teaching, pancake making, cookie dough sneaking, always smiling, most loving grandpa us grandkids could've had.
And now our sweet guardian angel!

Priorities
I had one of my best friends come visit for a few days last week which was so much fun!

Between family and friends we have had a steady flow of visitors
which has been SO great.
However, I've realized that the amount of special touches, meal prep and
activity planning I can do has quickly lessened
now that I have a little one demanding my attention.
Priorities have changed and I am learning that things don't have to be perfect in order for people to feel loved when they walk in the door.
If all I have is a place to rest there heads on at night, that is okay!
.....
I'm so excited with the positive response I've received about the mini apron!
Don't forget to take a peek online.
It's being offered in all of the French fabrics below...
...including this sweet vintage fabric
As with all products-10% of the profit will go toward
Strong Against Cancer organization.
.....
Hope you all have a great week!

Nighttime
As a new mom, one of the most common things I am asked is...
How have you been sleeping?
How has the baby been sleeping?
or if I'm just exhausted.
It was the piece of advice I heard most while pregnant too...
"Enjoy sleeping and get as much sleep as you can now before baby comes!"
.....

I'll be honest...the first couple nights at home were rough.
All three of us were learning which meant pulling a couple solid "all nighters".
I found myself slightly dreading nighttime at first...
Unsure what it would look like, how many times I would be getting up, or counting the minutes or hours I would actually be able to sleep.
.....
But I have changed my mindset and have
quickly learned to enjoy these sweet, quiet moments.
When the only thing I need to be doing is be with little Sam.
It's in those wee hours of the night where I have time to
reflect and think without a single distraction.
.....
I know these moments won't last forever and I will soon miss them.
It's all part of the job which I feel blessed to have.
.....
I hope everyone is having a good week!

New Non-Profit Organization!

It was a fun day yesterday seeing the Seahawks win their game
with just a couple minutes left to go.
What an exciting come back it was!
I have a feeling Seattle fans will be re-living and talking about this
particular game for years to come.
.....
Amidst the craziness of the new year, I had yet to share the next non profit to receive
10% of the profit from all card and apron sales at Lindsay P Designs.
This is a local nonprofit organization developed at the
Ben Towne Center for Childhood Cancer Research,
providing a new way of fighting cancer through immunotherapy.
Significant results have been shown just weeks after.
Such an amazing feat to fighting childhood cancer!
Visit their website to learn more!
.....
Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Decorating with Flowers
Growing up, I remember very few days where we didn't have fresh flowers on the table or sitting on top of the piano.
My mom loved and still loves flowers and the beauty it adds to the home.
It is something she has passed down to all three of us girls.
I don't think there ever needs to be a special occasion to have fresh flowers in your home.

I love how something so simple can add such an element of prettiness.
.....

I recently received this book from one of my sweet friends that I am so excited about!
Each page is loaded with arrangements,
beautiful flowers,
and ways to decorate with them.
With flowers for different themes and occasions...
This book is already getting me so excited for Spring time!
If you are like my family and love flowers...
I highly recommend getting this book...
Even if it is just to look at all of the pretty pictures!
I hope you all have a wonderful week!
